Can You Get Child Support Suspended After Losing Your Job

My question involves child support in the State of: NYS
I dont know if this is true, I heard that there is no way of doing this in nys. But can you suspend a child support order until you are able to pay the full amounts?

I been out of work, and currently cant find a job to save my life, I been struggling just making the monthly payments, but I try to not go more than a month without making something. I have 5 other kids that I have custody of that need to be taken care of to. The other parent is working and making great money. The judge cant lower the payment anymore he says. I heard from a lawyer that I can suspend my order temporary (its all im looking for) If this is true, what do I need and have to do to get this done?

Why don't you allow the other parent/s to have custody? You'd surely save money that way, right?

Is the other parent willing to agree to lowering your payments temporarily? I assume since they're making "great money," they aren't receiving pubic assistance.

the judge wont lower it anymore I already tried that! the other parent is willing but the judge cant.

the other parent does have custody thats why I am paying. Its the only child I dont have custody of

If the judge will not allow it, you must continue paying it. That is one of the downsides of having children you cannot afford.

My point was that transferring custody of the children you DO have custody of, to the other parent, might free up some resources.
