What's the Punishment for Retail Fraud, 3rd Degree, in Michigan

I recently just got caught stealing at a kohls in Michigan. I'm now banned from all kohls for the rest of my life and have a court date coming up. I stole $30 and my friend stole $35, we got caught together so added up it's $75.. How much money do I bring to court and how much do you think I'm going to get charged for? Also, what happens in court? I'm also 17

You do understand that you are facing retail fraud charges (most likely of the third degree). You CAN go to jail for that. There's no "amount" of money you can bring to court that will prevent that. You could be fined $500 plus court costs. There might be a diversion for you, but Michigan courts are very inconsistent with whether they will allow that. As Dissy says, YOU NEED A LAWYER.

From experience: I had $303 in court costs and fines, plus $250 Civil Demand. Plus my attorney fees. The court costs will vary by county, but atleast you have a ballpark figure.

You do need to have your parents get you a lawyer and find out about a Diversion Program or Holmes Youthful Trainee Act. Believe me, having a criminal record really does screw up finding employment.
