My question involves child support in the State of: Pennsylvania
Hello. I’m new here and wonder if someone can help me. I’ll try to be brief.
My ex-girlfriend and I have a 16 year old daughter and I’ve been paying child support through the NJ Court system where the original child support order was issued and where she resided. I have been living in NY since our separation. Without my knowledge, she and her husband moved to Pennsylvania. By law, since she is the custodial parent, she is supposed to inform me if she moves. She’s now moved twice without informing me. I actually had to track down her husband through his work email address to obtain their address, twice. (She won’t answer my emails, etc, unless of course, she wants/needs more money). The order stipulated that I was to have visitation rights although I have not seen her in more than four years. In addition, she has refused to give me my daughter’s cell phone number. I’ve tried numerous times to reach out to my daughter, but it’s just silence.
Through the years, besides child support and health benefits, I’ve also sent money on her birthday and Christmas, of course, with no acknowledgement.
At any rate, my question is in regards to jurisdiction of the original order. The order came through New Jersey, but she’s been living in Pennsylvania the last few years. I’ve been living in New York. What I would like to do is basically have Pennsylvania have jurisdiction under Pennsylvania’s laws regarding child support.
So, how do I go about doing this?
Thank you in advance for your advice.
