Caught with MDMA

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California .

So I went to a rave a couple months ago, bought mdma in front of a undercover cop. 8capsules so it should weigh out to .8~grams if weight has anything to do with my charge. Was charged with felony possession, went to jail and posted bail.

Didn't say anything to the police besides it was a mistake. They looked threw my phone, didn't see them document anything but I did have messages from people asking me if I had any connection for mdma. Gave me my phone back.

Otherwise this is my first offense , never been arrested or anything, I'm a student. I originally had court a couple weeks ago but the d.a didn't file charges for me or the other 30+kids they arrested and our court dates all were moved to dec on the same day. I'm curious if that will affect me?

Will it affect you? You are charged with a FELONY. This is serious. Even if you don't end up in jail you will have lifetime implications to having this record. There is a chance (if your record is otherwise clean) at a PC1000 diversion. Get thee to a lawyer.

Obviously it will affect me, you misread my post. I was asking if all of us being tried on the same day would affect me negatively.

As a matter of law, each case is a separate issue. The frequency with which the judge hears each persons plea on the same charges is not going to have an effect.

Sorry I misread that. Dissy is right, neither the continuance nor the fact that they rounded up a whole slew of you druggies at the same time makes any difference to you. If I had to venture a guess, it was moved because the original date the witness (i.e., the cop) couldn't appear that day.

But you don't want to just show up and assume things are going to go OK (whether there are one or a hundred others). You NEED a lawyer.
