Default College Won't Reinstate a Scholarship

This may not exactly be employment (although I would consider college a full time job ), but it is discrimination, and I was wondering if there is anything that can be done. I have 2 friends a male and a female, who both failed to pass one class last year, losing scholarship money. They both did well in the rest of their classes, but each failed a class. Today my female friend spoke to financial aid, and they told her they couldn't give the scholarship back, even though they gave it back to my male friend. If anything she has done better than he has, she was dual enrolled in High School for 3 years, getting A's in almost all of her classes.

Whether it's relevant or not, the class my male friend failed to pass was Calc 2, which my female friend got an A in her junior year of high school. If they don't return her scholarship she will be forced to leave this university and go to community college, as she can no longer afford university. Is there anything that can be done?

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Most discrimination is legal.

Which law do you think has been broken?

(The school is not obliged to treat everyone the same)

Idk I don't know much about law, isn't there anything that requires public university's to be fair to students or anything?

It's usually NOT the school who decides. Each scholarship has it's own requirements as to what GPA, course load, etc.. you have to maintain. You have not shown anything to be at it's face "unfair" here.

We have none of the facts necessary to determine if unlawful discrimination occurred. There are plenty of reasons why a college might allow one scholarship to be reinstated, but not allow reinstatement in another case, few of which would be improper.

What's unfair about losing a scholarship if you fail a class?

I'll take "But they didn't do that to my friend who did the same thing kinda sorta maybe" for $500

A scholarship is subject to its terms. There is not a reinstatement requirement, unless it says there is.
