Default Shoplifting and Possible Forgery Charges

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Tennessee

I was recently given a citation for shoplifting (under $500) I can not afford an attorney so will be getting a public defender. In the past couple months I also deposited 5 checks that were not originally written to me from my work. I have not been charged with anything but I want to pay everything back. No excuse for my actions but I just want to know if a public defender will be able to help me with that if I haven't been charged yet, but involves the same company I stole from. I cant sleep or eat I just want to pay for my actions.

    Thank you.

wow are you in for an unpleasant surprise.

First, the state determines if you are eligible for a PD. You apply and if you meet their qualifications, then you get one.

then, paying back money you stole does not "undo" the crime you committed when you stole the money.

a PD might be able to help you but given they are not hired for that, they aren't going to do it, at least as your PD.
