    Default When Do Companies Have to Employ a H.R. Rep

    My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: maryland, i was harrassed for fileing a workmans compensation claim. the human resources officer quit from being bullied, i felt there was no one to go to about this since the one harrassing me was the plant manager ! so i quit overwhemed by the situation. i was denied UE, now have a appeals hearing. dec 10. is there a law stateing if over 100 employees u must have a hr rep. ?

    The company will have an hr rep. They hired one to replace the one who quit. You apparently have nobody.

    You've got two things against you. You quit and proving harassment is pretty tough. Even if you succeed there, if you mention the workman's comp, you'll immediately alert the ALJ/hearing officer that you might be too sick to work, and can be denied as not "able & available."

    No requirement for HR reps in Maryland to my knowledge. In fact, the company is allowed to contract out the filing and other issues with the state employment department or handle them in house.

    There are no legal requirements for HR Reps anywhere in North America. Possibly also South America too.

    In fact, nowhere in the US, at least (I'll let eerelations comment on the rest of North America) is there a legal requirement that there be any kind of HR personnel.
