My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: LOUISIANA
In June of 2013 our new refrigerator was delivered however the icemaker has never worked. When I say never that does not mean it worked for the first few days/month………IT NEVER WORKED. From day one it produced maybe 20 cubes of ice a week. Even after the repair man has been out 5 times it has never worked, NOT ONE DAY. They came out twice to change the whole icemaker, twice to change the filter behind the ice maker & one time to adjust the doors incase they weren't closing properly. Neither the manufacture nor the retailer is willing to replace it.
If the appliance has not worked since day one shouldn't it be the responsibility of the retailer to uphold their end of the "contract" & give us what we agreed upon in the sale; a refrigerator/freezer which includes, but is not limited to an icemaker? I am sure they will argue that we signed for it when it was delivered but it says it can take up to 24 hrs to produce ice so how were we suppossed to know it didn't work.
What should/can I do?
