So? You can't always get what you want. No matter your age!Alright, I agree with you now, however, let's say the police officer does take the 17 yr old back, legal or not, the 17 yr old is back where he/she didn't want to be to begin with.
If you think we're going to advise you to run away, you're not half as ready to be on your own as you would like us to believe.
If you can't get the answer you want here, I suggest you leave here and go hire yourself a lawyer.
I suggest you print an copy of the letter. Thank the officer for his concern and taking time to pursue your case, then advise him you are going to leave again as soon as you are returned home. Further, that you will not stay there because it is not legally required and you are going to video yourself advising your parents where you will be, with said officer as a witness. Texas is a one party recording law state.
Having a letter from your lawyer would be better. This place might provide one. This is not an endorsement it is believed to be non profit.

I didn't ask for your advice, and the thread went off-topic when Disagreeable and I began speaking about a "runaway" 17 yr old. No where was I even suggesting that I was planning to runaway at any moment. Settle down, Missy.
A lawyer would serve me no use, I'm not even attempting or contemplating getting emancipated. If you were to read the OP, you'd realize what the actual question is. Ignorance at it's finest.
Heh, I appreciate that, and I would advise any unemancipated 17 yr old friends mine that might "runaway." Good information, nonetheless. Anyways, back to the topic of the thread at hand. When I go back to school on Monday, I will go ahead and ask her boyfriend about emancipation and ask if I could see his court order(Thank you, L.R.Missy) and maybe we can diverge on from there.
Thanks for the responses everyone!
