My question involves paternity law for the State of: Illinois
I gave birth to a child in 2010 in Chicago. At the time, I was unmarried and had realtionship with more than one man, inclucing my ex-husband (whom I divorced in 2005). My ex-husband believed that it was his child and put his name on the child's birth certificate. Three years later, it is clear to both of us that this is not my ex-husband's child. Now my ex is getting remarried. both of us agree to take his name off the child's birth certificate. Both of us are Chinese citizens. While my child and I reside in Illinois, my ex-husband lives in China. My questions are:
(1) Can my ex bring a petition of non-paternity in Illinois local courts? Do Illinois courts have personal jurisdiction over my ex?
(2) I intend to deal with this matter as a pro se. What are the necessary procedures?
Thanks in advance for your help.
