My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of CA.

It was late at night and cops were doing sobriety checks. I was not drinking that night but was running late. I was in the left lane and saw some cars making U-turn where there were cones blocking the left center lane. I got frustrated and followed suit. Cop that was stuck in the long wait, (far away enough not to see the lanes), made a u turn and pulled me over. I protested that the lines were not double solid lines but he said they were.

I checked Google maps and there is a small section where the road was not double solid line. I presume that section was there to permit riders to make U-turns to get into the freeway ramp.

I am uncertain where I made the U-turn but I don't think the cop can be sure either. Do I have an argument? Should I bring up the Sobriety check in my argument. I might have violated some laws by not obeying the cones but i was ticketed for illegal U-turn not trying to evade sobriety check.

Please help. Due date in 2 weeks. Thanks.
