My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Jersey
If someone commits a crime under the age of 15 for a sexual offense, say a lewd act however just intimate parts were shown but were not to satisfy themselves, can you be charged with this crime or any crime at all when the alleged perpetrator is now over 21? I am aware that the State of New Jersey does not have statue of limitations for reporting sexual crimes. What would be the options for a person facing such allegations? The alleged perpetrator at the time was 4 years older than the alleged victim at the time the crime was allegedly committed. The victim has already showed confusion with the alleged occurrence and has now been forwarded to DYFS (Division of Youth and Family Services) to examine the accuser over the period of the next 4 months.
