My question involves small claims court in the state of: Florida
About 2 years ago, I paid off a judgement that was ordered against me in my County Small Claims Court. I was making payments to an attorney's office (I use the term loosely). I did not realize until I went to purchase a car, and was being denied financing because of a judgement on my credit report that the attorney had never filed a Satisfaction of Judgement with the Court. I contacted the judgement creditor and they basically told me that they sent me a copy of the Satisfaction, and that I was supposed to file with the County Clerk's office. I don't remember ever receiving this Satisfaction paper. Would they have had to send this certified? Can I force them to prove that this was sent? They will send me a duplicate for $250! Can they do this? I would just like to have them file with the Court. I can get a copy from the Court cheaper than $250.
Do I have any options?
