Default Emancipating a Child Who Lives Abroad

My son who will be 17 in December has been living in Brazil with my Mother for 7 years. He and I both have dual citizenship, he was born in the U.S. He needs to be emancipated, I quess from me, because I am his sole custodian as stated in my divorce decree issued her in the U.S in 1997. The reason for the emancipation is that my Mother who is ill will be moving to a different city in Brazil and he needs to stay in the current city their residing in now , in order to finish his schooling. Please tell me what to do, I havent the slightest clue where to begin.

You will want to consult a lawyer in Brazil. This is not a U.S. legal issue.
