Default Can a Permanent Resident Buy Firearms

I have been living in Houston, TX for 3 years, I am a non-citizen but I am a resident of TX. I would like to buy either a gun or a taser for home defense, so my question is do I need to be a citizen to legally purchase either a gun or a taser? Thank you.

A Permanent Resident should have no problems.

You are avoiding the question. Immigration status is directly related to whether you are legally permitted to obtain or possess a weapon.

Then why did you tag your post as being about unlawful presence and overstay? Are you trying to make extra work for the moderators?

OP as a non-citizen you will need to bring some additional documentation with you if you purchase a firearm from a dealer. Read blocks 11L, 12, and 20C, along with their instructions, on the ATF Form 4473 so you'll know what you need before you go to the store.
