Unhappy Imprisonment of Non Payment of Debt

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Texas

Can I be arrested for default on a car loan? I tried for a refinance with the vendor to no avail, now they say I can't surender the car and I have to pay for it. I can't so what are my options?

The only realistic way you can end up in prison over this, is if you fail to pay a judgment and the judge jails you for contempt of an order to pay or you hide the collateral. Though unlikely, it has happened. Surrender the car and they will sell it. You are better off to sell it yourself and pay them in full.

No you can not be imprisoned (PERIOD). In fact, it is illegal under Texas law for a collector to even suggest that you can be arrested or jailed for collections.
