Default Judgment Entered After Statute of Limitations

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of:CALIFORNIA

There is a judgement on my credit report I wasn't aware of. I was never served papers or contacted. I called the collection agency and they couldn't provide me with any useful information. They told me to contact the court to look at the file. I did request an itemized bill and they sent me a letter showing some crazy amount. I called the original creditors and they told me to contact the collection agency who they sold it to, which is not the collection agency that filed the case.
My original account was closed on 07/2008 and the debit collection agency took over the account 07/2009. Is this consider pass the SOL for California? How can I dispute the judgement?

    Please HELP

The SOL really doesn't matter if you didn't bring it up as a defense; in other words the creditor can legally sue you.

As you were already told, you have to FIRST get the information from the court that entered the judgment. Without that you cannot dispute the judgment.

When you obtained the court file, as you were instructed to do, what did you learn about where and when you were supposedly served?

How long ago was the judgment entered? California is pretty unique, in that you normally have only a two year period to challenge a judgment based upon a claim of improper service, so the clock is ticking.

    Agree with the others.

    Get the court file.

    All of it.

Then come back and discuss it.
