I believe that the business practice of Blue Cross of California is fraudulent. On May 31, 2006, I disenrolled from Anthem Insurance Companies, Inc. My request for disenrollment has been processed and is effective June 1, 2006. I also declined automatic enrollment into Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage. On September 25, 2006, I received a letter from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that confirms my requests. On October 30, 2006 (I am not sure of the date, but it is close), I received a bill from Blue Cross of California for the amount of $100.20 due upon receipt (Billing Period 10-01-06 to 11-01-06). When I called Blue Cross regarding this bill, they said it is a bill for my Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage. When I told them I disenrolled from that coverage, they told me to talk to Medicare and gave me their telephone number. It turns out that the number they gave me was not Medicare (I don't have that number now. I shredded it accidentally). On November 4, 2006, I received a Blue Cross Medicare Drug Plan Card and a letter stating, "Thank you for selecting the Blue Cross of California MedicareRx coverage....." What can I do about this? Thanks.
