My question involves civil rights in the State of: Tennessee:My son is in jail he is a type 1 diabetic, they are giving him is daily insulin, his long acting but no matter how high his sugar is they refuse to give him a sliding scale he has written complaints to the jail administrator with no action.I have called and talked to the administrator and was told I didn't have any right to get any answers from him.My son has told me his sugar levels have been running over 300 which is deadly for a diabetic, the nurses has told them they know he needs a sliding scale but there hands are tied, his hem.a1c is 9.4 he has lost 10 pounds already which is normal when a diabetics sugars run high.so he may weigh 120.He is now worried they are going to lock him down for complaining so much but he is worried that is is going to go DKA.My son is a brittle diabetic very hard to maintain him,he has been put on life support before for his diabetes is this not a violation of his civil rights they should have to take care of him?
