    Default Unpaid bills

My husband has left me nearly 6 months ago (this was his choice) Is there any actions I can take legally to get my husband to pay for rent and utility bills that are also in his name - without filing for divorce at this time? I am having a hard time with the bills and he feels since he does not live here, he should not have to pay for any of these bills. The bills are also in his name and are over 1 month late. He is also worried about his credit and says he wants his name off - can he take his name off the bills while there are non-paid balances?
    Thank you.

No, he cannot remove himself from bills. If that was the case, none of us would have any!

Why don't you want to get divorced? You said that your husband left you.

I do love him and would like to work things out - but meanwhile he's not paying. Also, if he does pay off the bills can he then take his name off where I would be responsible to pay them myself or would he need to wait for a divorce?

Give an example of a bill that he would "take his name off".

We have the electric, gas, and cable bills. Also, the rent.

You mean to tell me that you have utilities in BOTH your names? That's weird. If the utility company allows him to remove himself from the bill, then you may become responsible for the payment. His other option is to simply shut off the utilities. You might want to contact the companies to see if they have any suggestions. If you both are on the lease, then you both are responsible for the rent. If he doesn't pay, then you can be evicted.
