You won't be getting a DNA test prior to the birth. Not happening.

What makes you so sure that the child WILL be carrying your last name?

What reason do you have? Do you think your reasons are greater than Mom's reasons? I believe you may be in for quite the surprise.
Our doctor has us scheduled for an SNP Microarray test next Wednesday after work. That is a safe pre-natal test that is 99% effective and doesn’t involve inserting a needle anywhere into the womb area like the other prenatal paternity tests.

I'm just sure due to the personal dynamics of the relationship and who we both are as individuals. You would have to truly know one of us to understand.

I know her reasons. They involve family trauma and feelings of abandonment from her parents (mom and dad both). She had a sort of tumultuous childhood as it relates to custody battles and family drama. She knows that is not the case with me and her because I come from a TOTALLY different type of family. My reasons stem from the relatively recent passing of a strong Patriarch that even she was extremely fond of, and his lifelong speeches about the importance of family and carrying on the family name. That might not mean much in circles where that carries no weight, but in this case it is much different. I have already started the conversation with her. We are working through the details and writing down a pros and cons list. I had to tackle this head on.

Thanks for all of the help though.
