Default Bought a Vehicle by Taking Over Payments - Can I Destroy or Hide it from Repossession

My question involves an auto loan or repossession in the State of: Texas, Colorado, Louisiana.

Okay here we go, the vehicle is Owned by a person living in Colorado with a Kansas address (bob), the car is registered to him with a Texas address, I make the payments on the vehicle which is housed in Louisiana, but I am living in Hawaii, with a Minnesota address.

I am not on the loan or the title of the vehicle, i took over payments of the vehicle and the lean holder will not transfer the loan to me, I have requested from Bob the POA for the car so i can register the vehicle, it as been over a year since it has been registered. So i quit making payments on the vehicle since i am not going to pay it off just to have him take it back. I have called the lean holders and told them that i am giving the car back to bob and have made every effort to contact bob to come get his car and that i am going to stop making payments. they said that the financial and legal responsibilities fall onto bob. I cant get a hold of bob and haven't been able to for the past 6-8 months, so i parked the car.

Now my question is when they come to repo the vehicle where will they go? i didnt tell them that the car is louisiana because it is not my job to do so.

I have made major modifications to the car and i will not let them take those modifications with them and that includes and new beefed up engine and drivetrain and interior. I purchased them and installed them, I will be removing them so when they come to get the vehicle it will be with an engine that is from a different make of car. and no interior. am i allowed to do that?

if the repo man shows up at the place where the vehicle is housed they will get the keys with and they might even get help getting it off the property. so what could be charged and who would be charged?

You are not allowed to tear apart a vehicle that is not yours. I have my doubts as to whether the lender would do anything since the person on the loan will simply end up owing more to them if the vehicle is worth less without the engine in it but...

Unless you have the old engine, drive train, and interior to put back in it, removing the items could be seen as a criminal act. It is generally illegal to vandalize a car.

You might be able to be charged with a crime.

In fact, since you are aware of the location of the vehicle and YOU are the one that garaged in in LA and you are concealing it from the lien holder, that could possibly be conversion.

Eventually they'll go where the car is.

You're delusional if you think they won't eventually find you and the car.

    No.

At least not unless you want to put the car back together the way it was when you got it.

Otherwise removing the all the improvements is theft or vandalism and you could theoretically be prosecuted for it.

What do you mean by "charged"?

What, exactly, are you concerned about?

Losing the car and all the money you put into it? That's almost a guarantee.

PS: I've been trying to control myself but can't. You were incredibly stupid buying a car with a lien on it and making payments and improvements. I've been in the car hobby for 45 years and have seen people make some really stupid deals but this one takes the cake.
