Default When Should a Permanent Resident Inform the USCIS of Address Changes

    Hi everyone,

I arrived to the US 1 year ago as a refugee. Now it's time to file for a greencard. When I arrived, I was staying at place A in Los Angeles with my family. Then I got a job and I rented an apartment in Irvine. For weekdays (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu) I stay at my irvine place, but for weekends and holidays I am in my room in my place A in Los Angeles. Some of my bills go to place A in los angeles.

On I-485 form, there are multiple instances stating that if I change my address I need to tell USCIS / DHS via form AR-11. I haven't done that. Do I really need to? How do they determine and verify my current address?

    Thanks,

    A

I would file anyway - that way it could never come back to you.

As an immigrant, you are legally obligated to keep USCIS up to date with your address.

But how do I determine my address? I have two places. That's the question ;-)

What do you use for taxes and driver's license?

Taxes have my corporate office (my office) and DL has my new residence.

You really need to be consistent regarding your home address. You are not using the LA address at all so that is not your primary address.
