Default Discrepancy Between Total Support Ordered and When Payments End

My question involves a marriage in the state of: Colorado

Not sure this is the best place for this question, but since it applies to a divorce (alimony) thought I would start here.

At the start of September this year I received the court's decision on whether I had to continue alimony payments. The order infers that i continue making payments of $1000 per month until a total payment of $33,000 has be reached. It then goes on to say that these payments are to continue to July 2017, which is 48 months from the time of the Order, or a total of $48,000.

Neither I nor my lawyer caught this discrepancy before the 14 day review period was past.

Is there a way to get the court to clarify its statement at this point without going into a full blown appeal?

If the parties agreee about what the court intended to order, the can stipulate to a corrected order and petition the court to enter the stipulated order. If not, the party seeking clarification can review the record to see whether the record clarifies what the judge intended, and bring a motion based on the record. If not, the party seeking clarification can petition the court to clarify the order based upon the internal inconsistency. Talk to your lawyer.
