Investigate the process to obtain a PD if you are charged.

A PD is a Public Defender. In criminal cases the defendant can ask the court to supply a lawyer if the defendant is poor. You need to do some homework on how this is handled in your area. Often you request a lawyer at your arraignment. They have some forms that you fill out. The court then decides how much you will be charged for a PD. You then decide whether you want to pay that price.
