My question involves medical malpractice in the state of: Oregon
After a couple of years of knee problems and arthroscopic surgery, my Dr and I came to the conclusion I needed a partial replacement done. In Jan 2013, I had surgery and it seemed successful until about 10 weeks post op someone notice my tibia bone had bowed on my left leg. The Dr told me he should have put a bigger spacer in and thats what caused the bowing and a full knee replacement would fix the problem. In June 2013 I had a full replacement done, the recovery was extremely difficult compared to the partial replacement. The pain was unreal. At my six week post op he took me off of pain meds which I felt i still needed and told me i was masking the pain with pills so stop taking them and come back in 2 months. I slowly got better but never recovered. I still cant walk without assistance of a cane. I have very little stability, still take the stairs one at a time and have a pretty bad limp not to mention the pain never completely went away. My PCP referred me to another orthopedic specialist which I saw 2 weeks ago. He was very thorough and informed me and showed me xrays of my knee post op immediately after surgery and it was so obvious even with me not being a DR. The new Dr. informs me I will have to have a "MASIVE" surgery to try he said try to fix it the vest he can, however my leg will most likely be about a 1/2 longer than my other leg and I will need to wear a lift in my shoe for balance. He says I will never be able to walk the same and most likely will have to have this surgery every 5 to 7 years for the rest of my life. He said it was unbelievable that I was walking on it and that it hadnt opened up on me yet.
Im not sure what to do. I have put the surgery off until Dec. but am so frustrated and distraught over this. This has changed my entire life and now I have to have this done repeatedly. Should I seek legal help?
