My question involves juvenile law in the State of: North Carolina

Im 17 ill be 18 in april of 2014 i live with my mom and my step dad who has raised me since i was in between 4 and 6... i left their house once before and moved in with my biological dad and step mom but i have been back at my moms for over a year.. i am wanting to move out again but they aren't going to let me.. My friend is trying to help me get a job and we were talking about getting an apartment to share..... I live in North Carolina can i move out without there consent..... i cant take the fighting everyday, getting told to leave and getting called a bitch, a whale, a fat bitch, a whore, and some other names and things, and having my mistakes thrown up in my face anymore.... it's has gotten to the point where he has bitten me and drew back to hit me.... this is over the last 12 years.... i can't take it anymore...It's emotional and mental abuse and sometimes physical i wont lie and say i haven't hit back but after 12 years it get's old and you have to stick up for yourself at some point... i feel like i can't do anything right and that nothings good enough...Can i move out with out having to have their permission???

No, but what you can do is call the police the next time someone hits you

and then start planning to leave on your 18th birthday. However, remember. Once you find out just how difficult it is to be on your own? You won't have anywhere else to be and 18 year olds usually have no clue just how expensive is it to be an adult.

Why did you leave your father and step mother's house?

Get a job, start saving money. Start creating a budget.

Start looking at apartment rental sites: www.forrent.com www.apartmentguide.com and even CraigsList.

Next: add water, utilities, food, staples (toilet paper, soap, dish detergent, deodorant, toothpaste...you get the idea).

Remember...there is a very good possibility your family will not let you take your bed, dresser, etc., that they paid for. So take that into consideration as well. You'll also have expenses such as a bath towel, shower curtain/hooks, possibly a bed or futon.....dishes, cookwear, utensils....
