Default False Report of Lost SNAP Card by Somebody Pretending to be Me

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

Can I press charges on my ex husbands girlfriend for reporting my lone star card lost/stolen? I found out she called the hotline saying she was "me" she gave my address, DOB, ss# and DL#. Do I have grounds to press charges on her?

How were you planning on proving this? What did the police say, when you wanted to file a report?

Nothing is stopping you from making a police report. The rest is up to the police and prosecutor.

Did she steal the replacement food stamps card or did she call it in to harass and annoy you?

If the latter Identity theft is a big stretch without any theft, but still report the incident to police it sounds like harassment to me.

I guess harassment... If the state finds her guilty what would likely be punishment?

SNAP has a recording when she called. That's how I know it's her.

If the police investigation finds sufficient evidence to present to a prosecutor, a prosecutor will review the facts as reported by the police and determine what charge (if any) should be filed. The rest flows from that decision.

Who is going to pay for the voice print analysis to prosecute this?

I'm not sure. Who should pay for the voice print analysis and how will that fact make a difference in a case?
