Unhappy Can an Employee be Fired for Seeming Unhappy With the Workplace

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: NJ

A friend of mine works for a company in NJ. A few weeks ago she was having issues with her supervisors, two of them would go up to her and ask questions such as "do you like us?" 'why don't you like us?" My friend being concerned for her job went and talked to a senior VP. The Vp who is in charge of the supervisors told my friend that she would look into it. A few days later my friend was called into a meeting with the Senior VP and the Vp stated it seems you are unhappy here, get your resume together and I will help get you a job outside this company. The next day my friend went to talk to VP again and stated she was not looking to leave but if supervisors had issue with her to write down what she was doing wrong so she could correct it. The VP stated again I will find you another job somewhere.

A few days go by no word from anyone, then about week 2 one supervisor and VP call friend into office and said I still need your resume. My friend stated I like it here. The supervisor says let me guess you gonna call out tom? Then VP says are you going to call out tom? It seems like harassment? My friend has been with this company for over 10 years.....

I am not sure can my friend do anything???

I agree but why would they try to find her another job. Why not just pull off the bandaid and fire her.

Maybe they're setting the stage so they can argue she quit to get her UI denied. There is no explaining an employer's motives, but she's doing the right thing to just keep going into work.

In this crazy world .. continually asking "do you like me" could be construed as sexual harassment by some women. If the law would see it that way is another question

If that's what was actually said.

Really, the "friend" needs to post. The OP really has no idea what is going on here.

Yes, she should watch 12 hours of the routine of the stand up comedian Bill Engvall. She should pay special attention to the "here's your sign" jokes.

If it still doesn't strike home, take her aside and say: I'm sorry but it appears you are leaving your job and if that is what the bosses want, that is what is going to happen.

an employer can fire you anytime they choose as long as it is not based on a protected class of people (race, gender, religion, etc). It appears her tenure with that company will end around the 10-11 year mark. At this point, and especially since it appears they are willing to assist in relocation to another employer, I would surely take advantage of that offer. A lot of employers would simply say; bye

This is what they call a strong suggestion. They do not want to fire her. The are attempting to allow her time to find another job. She should take the hint.

I feel as my friend is being harassed. She sent an email to HR a few weeks ago about her supervisors making her do little jobs like cleaning their personal dishes after lunch. After letter went to HR things calmed down and she was able to do her job once again til about two weeks ago they once again got on her again. I am not sure if she can do anything but justt go to work until they fire her but once again she has been their a loon time

Nothing you have posted suggests that any ILLEGAL harassment is taking place.
