Question What Were the Laws Re: Emancipation of Minors in Florida in the 1950's

My question involves the history of juvenile law in the State of Florida. I'm doing research for a film. In the 1950's in Florida, what would have been the youngest age that a minor could have been emancipated? In this story, the character is an orphan who has enough money to support himself.

I doubt any of the volunteers here are going to research the law from 60+ years ago for the sake of a story.

You're welcome to utilize the likes of Lexis, Google scholar & Westlaw though.

You can check with an area law library to see if they have statute books from that era and how you might access the books. They're likely in the stacks, as opposed to in publicly accessible areas of the library, and even for those more 'public' areas you may need to apply for a day pass.

While I cannot tell you anything about the statutes at that time, I can tell you that in the 50's less attention was paid in the case of an older teenager who was working, supporting themselves and had a place to live...particularly if the older teenager was male. More attention was paid if the orphan had any kind of sizable assets or money, because the age of majority in most states then was 21 rather than 18.
