Default Do You Report Rental Income to California EDD

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California

I recently rented my home and will be receiving rental income later this month (21st) and wanted to know if I am supposed to report the rental income to the California Edd. If I am supposed to report the income is that the amount I actually take in? I hired a property management company to oversee the rental thus is taking a percentage of the rent. The rest is going to my mortgage payment (I get a total of 11$ after mortgage is paid.)

I have searched the web for answers and have tried to find the definition of wages on the California Edd site and have come up short.

    Thanks!

Now that, is a question I don't think I've ever seen on this board. I think your best bet, for the most accurate answer is to call the EDD and ask them if you haven't done so already.

Although it's my understanding that passive income is not subject to being reported, I'm not seeing that clearly defined in the law or regulation. The definitions in Sec. 1252 of the Unemployment Code seem to support my understanding, but I am not going to make a more definitive statement without first finding a more definitive source. If you can get a clear answer from the EDD, that would be the simplest solution - and if they do provide an answer, please come back and share it.

Why do you people tell posters to call EDD? The lines are open 4 hours/day from 8 to noon. You can never get through, and that's why these posters come here.

The answer is NO, rental income is not wages/earnings.

    Agree.

The definition of "wages" in that section is clearly not rental income.
