Default What's the Penalty for Shoplifting and Concealment

My question involves criminal law for the state of: El Mirage, Arizona

Ok i'm cutting the excuses out and the reasons of me and my boyfriends actions because they do not matter, we committed a crime
on 8/22/13 me and my boyfriend caught caught for shoplifting and concealment at walmart, we stole $222 worth of items but since it
was a team effort they split the cost to 111$ on both of us. We were just wondering for our peace of mind and what to expect on our
court date which is on 9/6/13

We were very cooperative and since we were that all they did was fingerprint and take our pictures and releases us an hour later.
This is a first offense for the both of us, I'm 18 and he is 19, we were really sorry for what we did, we were just really desperate at
the time. They gave us a piece of paper with the phone number to ask what the fee would be or the possible charges, but when we
were handcuffed the police never took the papers with us. The only paper we have is the paper the police officer cited us after we
were fingerprinted and our pictures taken then released. We don't have any money for a lawyer if we did have money we wouldn't
have stolen in the first place. The A.R.S statues are : 13-1805A1 and 13-1805A5.

Walmart said they would be sending a paper in the mail with additional information about this incident, but we still have not received
anything and we recently have moved but we had our mailing addressed forwarded to our new address. Any information to help us or
advice is greatly appreciated we learned our lesson, we just have been in a really bad financial situation lately. My boyfriend has been
looking for work and has not been able to find any for months and every day he searched. On top of that we got denied for food
stamps. So we tried everything before resulting to stealing.

If you wish to have an attorney and cannot afford one, one will be appointed to represent you (if you qualify per your states requirements)

I hear panhandling on the corner with a sign can be quite lucrative.

(I'm ready to try that myself!)

In seriousness: Call the court and ask about Public Defender. If they can't give you info then, on your first court date plead "Not Guilty" and ask for a P.D. Please note: That is not free, there is a small payback obligation.

You can expect court costs, fines. Possibly Community Service or an anti-shoplifting class. Plus the Civil Demand from WalMart (which is separate from the criminal case). Seriously....time to beg McD's for a job because shoplifting is expensive. You can expect the costs to be atleast $2000.
