Default Can You Move Out at Age 18 if You're Still in High School

My question involves juvenile law in the State of:Washington

In 2 months I turn 18 and I will still be in high school(senior). My mom and biological father had a pretty nasty divorce but she was granted custody of me. Now she is saying that because I'm still in high school she can make me stay in her home until I graduate in June. Is that legal? I have a lifetime protection order from him that I become in control of when I am 18 somehow my mother thinks that this fact is what gives her the right to keep me in her house but I have looked all around and cannot find anything that proves this to be true. Thanks for your time.

When you're 18, you can do what you want. I'd suggest a job and start saving money, while keeping your grades up. And trust me - you may have issues with finding an apartment since you have no credit history. Right now, I'd start grabbing apartment guides and the newspaper and see what apartments are going for and make a budget, see if you can afford it.

18 is an adult .... but it may be best to stay until you graduate.

How would you support yourself? Minimum wage isn't going to cut it part time.

You planning on dropping out of school? Not a good idea.

At age 18, you can leave and there isn't one single thing your parents can do to force you to stay with them. A lot of people post "wanted" ads for roommates to help split the cost of rent. That would probably be your best bet. Do you have a job?
