My question involves real estate located in the State of: North Carolina
This is in regards to my HOA dues. I sent a check to our association treasurer for our annual dues. The mailing address is a PO box in another state. I sent the dues by priority mail 2 day delivery since we get a discount if it reaches the treasurer by August 1st. I received a letter from the treasurer August 12th stating they had not received my dues. I checked the online tracking of the letter and it was delivered on July 31st. I also opened an investigation with the postal service who not only confirmed it reached the city it was to be delivered in but also the postal service spoke with the individual delivering to the location on that day and he remembered putting my piece of priority mail in the PO box. I sent an email to the treasurer with the tracking information from the post office and my receipt. I also stated I can write another check but will need to put a stop payment on the first and since it reached its destination the association should pay for this. That was 10 days ago and still no response. As time goes on there are penalties for late dues so I would like to resolve this quickly. I also have my house on the market for sale. What should be my next step? At our recent annual meeting I challenged our board on a few issues. I am hoping this is not some kind of retribution for that.
