Post Green Card Holder Caught for Multiple Misdemeanor Crimes

    Hello,
I am a permanent resident through a K1 finacee visa, I came here in 2001, I got a misdemeanor in 2007 finished the the DEJ program and was going to file for my citizenship and with my bad luck got arrested for misdemeanor DUI IN 2013 , My green card expires in 2016 . I would like to to know if can renew my green card before it expires without any trouble and apply for citizenship after that. I am also worried if USCIS might deport me if they find out the DUI .
Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestion.

They could choose to deport you. What are the misdemeanors for? That is a big part of it.

In my opinion you are so screwed. You need to consult an immigration attorney.

If your crimes fall under the umbrella of "moral turpitude", then yes, you're at risk of being deported.

If not though, you're generally fine. Google the term and see what you find.

Thank you. I did google it and found out DUI is not under moral turpitude. Any other thoughts , input or opinion from others is welcomed.

If the lawyer said you should be fine, you should be fine. Follow his advise and lay low. You are just this side of a trip home it appears.

I want to call a few more lawyers if possible and get their opinion. I don't know if I will be able to renew my GC when its about to expire.

Since you apparently have a substance abuse problem, you should obtain professional assistance to help you change your destructive behavior.
