I was driving along a street with a 35 mph speed limit. i was basically weaving going probably 45-50, possibly 55. I pass an unmarked Ford which happens to be a police car, which i didn't know at the time.
At this time, i notice the ford with two passengers, begins to follow my every move, sans turn signals, which even i had the decency to use. As i'm entering a now a street with a 40mph speed limit, i begin to feel as if i've angered the wrong person. In glendale, we've had stabbings in front of schools, drive by's a block away, and hit and runs, so i was afraid this might be happening to me.
My parents paid through the teeth to insure me to drive their company cars, since im a 16 y/o male and am the bane of existence when it comes to insurance companies. IF anything were to happen this car, even a rear end hit and run, my parents would pay even more. In self defense, and possible cowardice, i began to speed up, with more open road that i had no need to weave through traffic any more. Eventually i got to 60, but these guys were right on my tail.
after about 3 minutes of being chased they finally turned on their lights, pulled me over, and charged me with 25 over the speed limit. I've made peace with the financial charges (which im paying myself), but i believe that i should be charged for the initial speeding, not for my flight reflex. However, they had no radar on, but decided they wanted to follow me because i had passed them.
my court date is 1/24/07. if anyone has any advice, I'd very much appreciate it. i'm not looking for a way out, but a way to preserve anything i can. My main goal is to keep my license, and i'm willing to do a lot to keep it (traffic school, if im lucky enough)
