    Default What Steps Do I Need to Take to Get Emancipated

    Im 17 years old and my mother has just passed away iv never known my father and am staying with my grandma. what steps do i have to take in order to be emancipated? i was also in the process of enlisting to the marines can i sign my own paper work to enlist as a 17 year old if im emancipated?

    Your State is vitally important.

    But, generally, you must already be self-supporting to become emancipated.

    As indicated, your state is important. And, if your legal guardian has passed away and no other parent is known, then SOMEONE must now be your legal guardian. Depending on the laws in your unnamed state that new guardian may be able to sign your early entry into the service.
