That's all well and good when the child is a minor. She stopped being responsible for him when he turned 18, 5 YEARS ago. That was the time she could have stood up, told hubby where to stick it, and gone and GOTTEN herself a job. And a divorce, if he was being such a prick. So unless your BF is somehow disabled and unable to care for himself, the court isn't going to cut her much slack about not working for the past, at least, 5 years. She can certainly request alimoney, but SHE needs to sit down with an attorney and have that discussion - especially if the divorce is going to mean loosing any health insurance she has through hubby.
