Default Fired for Reasons I Don't Believe are Valid

I have worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years and last year my boss left to go to another restaurant as regional manager of The Happy Sumo (sushi). He then offered me a job as the G.M. of one of the 4 locations. I took it and worked my hardest. We acquired goal almost every month of my tenure and everything seemed perfect. The Regional manager then moved with his family to another country. Within a month of his leaving I have been terminated by the owner. His claim was he received an email from a customer saying that the music playing was inappropriate and that the customer overheard a chef call sunday "sundayfunday". He says that is breaking policy and that he can't trust me anymore. He will not give me any details as to the date of the offense or provide me with a copy of the email. Nowhere in the employee handbook are these policies.

Previously to this he had called and said he received an email from an employee saying I was snacking on the job. When he called and asked I was honest and told him that I was, explaining that I work from 10am - 12am work shifts. He said that it was fine but to hide in the office. Later, my assistant manager called me and told me it was killing her and had to tell me she was the one who told the owner over the phone. She stated she did not write an email. This leads me to believe that this other complaint is a fabrication for ulterior motives.

I have worked my very hardest to perform at this job and believe I have. I even had some trips I made for him on my days off unpaid to deliver fish and an Ipad 2 to another location about 45 minute drive both ways.

I was never given any paperwork to sign for my termination. Am I suppose to have to sign anything? I have never been fired before so this is all new to me. I really appreciate any advice this community can give me. Thank you.

No, there is no mandatory paperwork that you have to sign.

Immediately on Monday, if you have not already done so, sign up for unemployment.
