    Exclamation Emancipation in Utah

I am 16 years old and i live in utah. I have an 18 year old boy friend. I was sent to the hospital with an un-known illness, and my mom found out my boyfriend and i have had sex. we were going to get engaged this summer. i love him very much but i dont know what to do because now my mom will NOT allow me to be with him. Last april i messed up and got caught for posession of and illegal substance. I impressed the judge and got off way easy. I have not messed up sense, i have got good grades, & good attendance. My mom and my religions are VERY different. she does not know that i do not beleive in hers though. Is their ANY WAY I can become emmancipated? please respond!! i need help VERY bad.

This is where you posted, "California Emancipation".

However, and without even looking up Utah law, it doesn't appear that you qualify for emancipation, there. Good grades and attendance don't hit the mark. You need to have a full-time job, and be completely self-sufficient, and you're not.

"Full-time job" is overstatement, but financial self-sufficiency is a typical requirement. Utah has no emancipation statute, but apparently offers emancipation through its juvenile courts. Without a statute to look at, or a clear description of the emancipation process from Utah's case law, its hard for people who don't practice in Utah to do more than speak in generalities about what courts typically expect in emancipation cases.
