    Default Unfair Division of Assets

    My question involves a marriage in the state of:CA
    Hello I had my final hearing for my divorce and the judge awarded my X everything(stock, bonds, property,ect.)I only got to walk away with the clothes on my back.
    she sold most of my personal and household belongings at a yard sale that she posted on facebook and I have a printed copy of her ad,she also injured her self on the job 2 years before we began the divorce process and I didn't get any of that either.....basically I lost everything literally,we were married for 10 years together for 15, plz plz advise on what my options are at this point cause I don't know what to do ........if you need more info plz email me

    You shouldn't have received any of her injury award...nor anything that she inherited or was given to her by family.

    You can discuss the details with your divorce lawyer who can help you understand the court's reasoning, why the court divided the assets in this manner, and whether you have grounds for appeal. As we known none of the details, we cannot comment on any of that.

    Not necessarily true. Under California Law separate property assets can be transmuted and become community property assets. It isn't unusual for one spouse to receive an inheritance or PI settlement and take actions that unwittingly result in the loss of separate property classification.

    Having said that, Mr. KIA is correct re: discussing the division of assets with OP's attorney. He should contact his attorney ASAP for a detailed explanation, and maybe speak to another family law lawyer to find out if his attorney messed up.

    Apparently that isn't the case here, based on the way that the judge ruled.

    Judges make bad rulings all the time. I wouldn't make any such inference based on the ruling.

    OP needs to speak to his attorney, and consult another attorney to make sure that the division of assets was properly handled.
