Default How to Break a Contract While Avoiding Penalties

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Ohio

I signed up with AT&T that provides me internet and tv. I'm suppose to get 18Mbps down and 2Mbps up. For over a month now I have only been getting 7Mbps down. I have been complaining and they can't seem to fix it and point to the contract that says I may get up to 18Mbps down. At what point can I say they have broken the contract and end my contract with them with no early termination fee?

As long as it says "up to" and you are still able to get on the internet, regardless of actual speed, I don't really see where you have grounds to get out of the contract based on the speed you are receiving.

    Agree with free9man.

There's probably something in your contract that says they aren't guaranteeing 18 mbps and your mileage may vary and all that.

AT&T is one of the few companies where you can contact the CEO's office and actually get a fair shake. So, putz around and make a good faith effort to resolve it through normal channels and then contact the CEO's secretary.

I had similar issues and I was let out of my contract.

Further, have you investigated to make sure the issue is not in your home, rather than their portion of the line?
