Default Emancipation of Minor in Florida when Both Parents Don't Agree

My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Florida

I live in Louisiana. My 17 year old son lives in Palm Beach County, Florida. His dad drinks and does drugs and lives off the government. My son has a wonderful opportunity to get a good job and has been offered a place to stay for $115 a month, but his dad and his dad's common law wife won't let him do it. I really believe that it is because they would get less food stamps and money. I would agree to an emancipation but I don't believe his father would. My son's 18th birthday is this September 2013 but I hate to see him miss this wonderful opportunity now. Is there any legal recourse that my son and I could take?

He will be of the age of majority in a few weeks. Great opportunities come along many time in life. He can wait for the next one - he's waited this long.

Yes, there is. By the time he exercised it and judicial process moved forward, he will be 18. The reassuring thing is he would have lost in court anyway, so he really is losing nothing.
