My question involves a marriage in the state of:Va
I borrowed a large amount of money to pay off my wife's past (before we married) debts. After our divorce I was told because it was martial assets I had to continue making payments to the bank. It was stated in our divorce that her 1/2 would come out of the alimony I was paying, and when the alimony ceases, she is to continue paying me to keep the loan current. Since I am no longer required to pay alimony I have not received a dime from her. It's been 6 months. My lawyer has sent her lawyer letters asking for show cause. We have been going back and forth with this with no answer from her as to why she can't pay. She's been on disability since before we married but worked during our marriage and at one time made a large amount of money that she did not report to SSDI. My lawyer said she HAS TO pay, show cause or go to jail. I feel like I'm getting the run around from my lawyer. I also refinanced that loan to a much lower amount. Could this have caused the delay? Can anyone advise me as to what the problem can be because I'm not getting any answers from my lawyer and I can no longer afford to start over with another one.
