My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California
I was driving on Beach Boulevard heading North from Atlanta Avenue trying to catch the 405 Fwy North in the City of Huntington Beach, Ca. I was driving on the right lane all the time, following all the signals saying keep going straight, all of the sudden the lane change in to a right turn lane to get the 405 Fwy South. The last sign showing the 405 Fwy was not clear. The sign does not show that in order to catch the 405 Fwy North you have to move to the left contiguous lane. It does not show two different lanes for each Freeway.
I just panic, being so late at night with my little ones, I did not wanted to get lost. I had the green light and kept going straight instead of turning right The move was safe since the traffic was light and I looked back and my side mirror too. Right after crossing the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Edinger a cop in a motorcycle pulled me over to the right after the exit of 405 North. He asked me for my driver license and notice that I live in Los Angeles, I told him I was trying to catch he the 405 North, he said, “you are not familiar with the area” and gave me the ticket. The VC is 22101 (d).
He also told me I could fight my ticket in court. So I will, but in written declaration. HB is way too far from LA.
I want to fight the ticket by written declaration, since the bail amount is $292, too much money. I requested an extension so my due date is July 29th 2013.
Please, I need some guidance!!! Is there anything I can say or do to help myself???
