Default Website Shopping Cart Manipulation Caused Product to be Shipped Below Retail Price

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Illinois

A customer of our website found a trick to get items at a lower cost. He put .1 in the quantity rather than 1 and received items at a tenth of the actual cost. We did not notice the mistake until after we shipped the items. After checking his previous orders we realized he has done this 4 times before. He owes $322 for the items he received. We contacted the customer and got no response. We also contacted paypal and the credit card company and there is nothing they can do. Just wondering if there is any way to recover the money lost.

You and the customer are both in Illinois? Your business is incorporated?

If it were my business, and a glitch in my website led to a $322 loss, I would deem it an unfortunate event and move on with my life. Trying to get and enforce a $322 judgment against somebody in another state, even assuming the court accepts your version of events, would take more time and effort than I personally believe that amount of money would merit.

I agree...and it would also likely cost more than they could recover as well.
