Default Timing of approval of I-130's for parents and unmarried sister

    Hello,

I am new to this board and would like to ask a question. I am a US citizen in TX and have submitted I130s for both my parents as well as a sister who is unmarried and under 21. They are overseas. My parents' I130s have been approved. My sister is dependent on them and they would not be able to move to the US leaving her behind. My question is, will she be allowed to come with my parents? There is no status update on her I130 and I guess the reason for that would be that they are still processing that category for 2001, I believe. I also have a brother who is over 21 but unmarried. I have not applied for him because I figure it would be much faster if my parents applied for him once they get their green cards. I applied for my sister because I thought she may get approved since she is dependent on my parents. Would appreciate some advice and info. Thanks.

Your sister is in a different (and lower) preference category than your parents, and thus may not be approved until a later date.

Thanks for the reply. So, even if my sister is a dependent, US immigration expects that my parents will move to the US and leave her behind till she gets approved? It would probably be quicker if I withdraw my I130 and they apply for her once they get their GC. That will still take about a year and they would have to come to the US within 6 months of getting the green card. I'm really not sure what's the best thing to do here. Thanks.
