Default Still Married, is There Something I Can Do

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: California
'Hi my name is Charles, I am still currently married to my wife but are no longer living together, i am at our apt she left to her moms. we are trying to work things out, but I have to be safe, for my sons sake. In the last two months I have seen my son 6 times, not due to me, but to her. She will not let me take him from her moms house, she says i can only see him there, and outside. My parents have not seen their grandson in almost 3 months, all because she doesnt like my mom for whatever reasons. Now with us being still married , does anybody know if theirs nething i can do to have my son for the weekend, police coming with me maybe? but were married and from what i hear there is nothing the courts or anybody can do because of it, not until we begin the divorce process.
I d appreciate any feedback, thank you. BTW i have an apt i have a car, i have a job, she has none of that, will that count in a judges eyes?

While legally you both have equal rights, from a practical standpoint there is really nothing that you can do until a court makes temporary orders. The police aren't going to help you.

And no, the bolded won't "count" at all.
