    Default Being Sued

Just got a letter entitled consumer credit transaction which tells me to give it to my lawyer or bring it to court. I live in NY and owe $950 which has now been raised to $1,500. I've tried many times to settle this debt in the past offering settlement amounts but the creditor never replied back to me. What's the next step?

If you're being sued, you defend yourself in court. If you don't a default will be entered. You can try to negotiate a settlement with the creditor's lawyer.
