    Default Statute of limitations

I was in San fransico in 1996 and had a one night stand with a women of 17 years. Although i thought she was 25 and at the time I was told in the morning that she was 17.
I was wondering if there is anything she could do to me.. i.e have me arrested for statuory rape. I left the country the next day and was told she was looking for me.. Im concerned if i take me girlfriend to florida for a holiday they will arrest me

I was told by a friend of mine the statue of limitations is 3 years and it should be ok to take my girlfriend to florida.

I live in England and have not been to America since. Im actualy staying in Canada with friends at the moment. would it be ok to go from there to Florida?

    Sorry. two questions in one!!

    Thanks in advance

If you were more than three years older than she was then the SOL would have been three years. However, if a complaint were made that alleged certain specified sex acts or force, then the SOL might not yet have tolled.

Chances are that nothing has come of this. But, no one can say for certain without knowing whether the girl or someone else told the police about it and WHAT they told the police.

If she alleged force, penetration by a "foreign object" (or digit), forced sodomy, etc., then the charges could be such that the SOL would be extended.

Simply having relations with a minor is a felony if you were three years or older, and a misdemeanor if you were less than three years older. In either case the SOL would have passed on that. But, again, if she or someone else DID go to the police, then the devil would be in the details.
